The owner, an elderly official, said the headpiece was about 50 years old at that time. According to anthropologist Jim Fernandez, who has extensive field research in Gabon, the three faced headpiece nlo nge or nlo bekege is danced in the midst of a Fang crowd, its faces toward the crowd on all sides.
