Co-manage risk and emergencies for students abroad with attention to legal issues and FERPA rights of students.

Facilitated a five-year strategic planning process and implemented an annual recruitment plan. Designed an effective communications chain and supervised the building of a database to track student information. Created attractive web-based recruitment tools. Taught African Civilizations and African Politics courses, co-chaired a cultural diversity committee and worked closely with senior administrators to coordinate three freshman orientations. Supervised six full-time staff. Managed annual budgets of 800,000.

Assisted in proposal writing for a GDI Albania project to strengthen the capacity of Albanian legislative reformers. Briefed President Carter and senior Carter Center staff regarding relevant political and economic developments in Albania.
Researcher, US Department of Education, Fulbright-Hays grant recipient, Jos, Nigeria, November 2001 to December 2003. Implemented a large evaluation project involving extended site visits, and hundreds of group and individual interviews. Assessed organizations’ daily community meetings, donor driven external monitoring and evaluation exercises, strategic planning sessions, and staff training programs. Gauged the viability of organizations’ development efforts by observing the quality of participation of staff and managers in all of these activities.

FIELD EXPERIENCE / RESEARCH:
Through funding from the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining,
conducted field evaluation of EOD IS-Survey, a tool to create spatial databases
of minefields for humanitarian demining. Met with and assisted personnel in
demining agencies in several countries including Chile, Albania, and Ecuador.
Classroom training was conducted in the capital city of each country, while
field observations were made in mined areas, generally on or near international
borders.
Taught three-week Geospatial Technology Seminar at the University of Zambia,
Lusaka, Zambia, June 2002. Participants included UNZA faculty and Zambian government
officials in the geosciences; Ongoing research projects with Iwake Masialeti
and John Volk of the University of Zambia to examine, respectively, the extent
of the recent depletion of miombo woodland in the Chongwe District east of Lusaka
and the effects of air pollution near the Copperbelt City of Ndola. Field data
gathered summer 2002, with analysis of satellite imagery and soils data ongoing.
