Fall 2007 - "KASC Project Progressing;" article in the KU international outreach newsletter Global Sources

June 2007 - Project Assistant Kelley McCarthy is working on creating even stronger and more standard-specific modules in subject areas such as pre-colonial history (spanning back to the emergence of hominids), African political systems, literature, and the arts, with the help of Africanist faculty at KU.

June 2007 - Teaching Africa and the Middle East in the Great Plains was introduced to a group of teachers and graduate students at the annual KASC Teacher Summer Institute, in which the project received great enthusiasm and proved that there is eagerness to use the materials at hand. Participants of the institute have prepared their own modules that will soon be available on the website for others to use.

Spring 2007 - "Bringing Africa to Teachers and their Classrooms;" an article published in the KU international outreach newsletter Global Sources [.pdf]

February 2007: Project promoted at the Missouri Council for the Social Studies conference with help from teacher participant Mark Adams

January 2007: KASC project staff is collaborating with KU Continuing Education to develop an upper-level online course for graduate students and teachers that will introduce Africa through intensive case studies.

November 2006: Project promoted at the Kansas Council for the Social Studies conference, Wichita, as well as at the Mid-America Alliance for African Studies (MAAAS), St. Louis
