    • In this unit students examine causes of world hunger and possible solutions to help alleviate the problem.

  • Encounters with Africa: Using language Arts and the six-trait writing model to teach Africa. By Jackie Tappan.
    • This unit introduces East Africa by using various language arts activities. Emphasis is placed on reading and writing.
  • Africa's effort to unite diverse groups into a single voice by Greg Vessar and Jada Kohlmeir
    • This unit helps students understand the rich diversity in African countries by studying their traditional cultures as well as the influence of European colonization, and use that knowledge to discuss the contemporary issues and challenges facing them today.
