Welcome! The Kansas African Studies Center* embodies the interdisciplinary interests of over forty Africanists at the University of Kansas. The Center's mission includes: Coordinating the African Studies program, sponsoring research and outreach initiatives, the enhancement of curriculum, organizing conferences, the acquisition of library and related resources, and raising funds to make all these activities possible. Please browse our website; you may want to start by reading About the Center. Also, see our Spring 2008 newsletter.
Undergraduate students at KU looking for information about studying Africa should begin with our academic programs. There you can get information about core courses, African language study, study abroad opportunities, and other programs. Click here for a listing of available Spring 2008 courses on Africa! K-12 educators should look at our teaching and continuing education materials and programs. Please see the Outreach section for more information, as well as Teaching Africa and the Middle East in the Great Plains, a project dedicated to providing resources for educators. We try to update this list regularly, and we welcome suggestions for new links. News and information: Interested in Sub-Saharan Africa?
