This collection has 27 artifacts from East Afrca including: 1 bark towel, 1 machete, 3 breech clothe, 1 spoon, 4 combs, 2 arrows, 1 long wooden spear, 1 long wooden handle spear, 1 iron lance tip, 1 skirt, 1 headrest, 1 wooden sword handle, 2 swords, 1 knife blade scrapper, 1 musical instrument (percussion), and 1 raffia palm

E 3379 ceremonial
sword/throwing knife. Found among the river peoples conventionally known as
"Bangala" inhabiting the region at the Northeast bend of the Congo
River. There are two reasons why this knife could be used. First, the headman
used it ritually to decapitate slaves or captives. Secondly, it is also seen
as a symbol of authority for a leader of a local group (not necessarily the
headman)
