William Harvey Brown collection

William Harvey Brown graduated from the University of Kansas School of Engineering and became involved with Cecil Rhodes on the colonial conquest of Rhodesia. He was a member of the Pioneer expeditionary forces that defeated the Ndebele army and established the mining and agricultural economy of Rhodesia. He served as a mayor of Salisbury.

This 1908 Ndebele and Shona cultures, Southern Rhodesia (today Zimbabwe) has 67 objects, including: milk containers, cups, spoons, neckrests, animal tail whisks, dance leg rattles, snuff bags & bottles, stools, knives, sheathes, axes, knobkerries, swords, powder horns, and other tools of warfare.
