Vol. IX, No. 1
This is the fall newsletter of the African Studies Resource Center (ASRC) at
the University of Kansas. Its mission is to report on our on-going activities
and announcements of forthcoming planned events. The fall semester 2003 was
the first in our time at KU to run the ASRC programs without Title VI NRC funding.
It is gratifying to realize that we survived and lived up to the challenge.
Our activities last fall have not been any less successful than any of our past
semesters with federal support. We appreciate, as usual, the strong commitment
of our Africanist faculty, staff, and students at KU. We also appreciate the
continuous support of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Department
of African and African American Studies, the Center for International Business
Education, and all those institutions at KU who generously supported the greatly
successful MAAAS conference at KU. With this kind of support and commitment
we feel comfortable and confident that the ASRC will grow, flourish and have
a bright future at the University of Kansas. Khalid El-Hassan, editor.
